We can now use the table to ascertain what size heaters are required,
The Hall is to be No Less than 363 Watts
so this means we would use a 400 Watt heater.
The Landing is to be No Less than 319 Watts
so this means we would use a 320 Watt or 400 Watt heater.
So our heaters required to heat the whole area are,
Hall
Landing
1 x 700mm x 600mm
1 x 700mm x 600mm or 1200mm x 350mm
Landing
Hallways, Stairs and Landing should be calculated by separately measuring each section,
Example:
Hall
Landing
Stairs
We now have to divide the stairs m3 into 2, we do this so both the hall and the landing heaters will assist in the heating of the stairs.
13m3 / 2 = 6.5m3
We then add this total to both the hall & landing totals and calculate the heater required by multiplying them by our usual 22watts/m3,
Hall
If your room is not rectangular, L-Shaped for example then it should be divided into two sections. Each section should then be calculated separately using the calculation on the previous page with each section having a heater installed. This calculation should be used also if rooms are joined together by an open archway.
5.0m x 0.8m x 2.5m = 10m3
4.0m x 0.8m x 2.5m = 8m3
6.5m x 0.8m x 2.5m = 13m3
10m3 + 6.5m3 = 16.5m3 x 22 = 363 Watts
