In'Flector Blinds - A See-Through Thermal Barrier
s
We are all investing money towards making our homes as energy efficient as possible so we can reduce our energy bills.
However out of the main three main energy reduction solutions above, one of them could be greatly improved.
The weak link in making any room truly energy efficient is The Window, even with modern heat retention Low E Glass a vast amount of the heat you pay for to heat your home is lost through the glazing.

Three types of glazing were tested for the amount of heat that is lost through them.
Single Glazed:
Only has a single pane of glass for protection. Normally found in very old buildings.
Low E Glazing:
Consists of two panes of glass, one having a Low Emissivity Coating designed to reflect heat back into the room.
Used in all modern double glazing.
Consists of two panes of clear glass.
Only normally found in very old style double glazing.
Double Glazing:
In’Flector is a revolutionary blind system that can drastically reduce the amount of heat lost through your windows, making rooms warmer for longer and reducing the amount of time your heating is operating. Reducing energy usage and therefore reducing your bills.
In’flector blinds are see-through, with the overall appearance of net curtains meaning this system can be used 24hours a day without plunging your room into darkness during daylight hours.
Not only do In’Flector blinds retain massive amounts of heat they are also capable of generating heat by harnessing natural sunlight, filtering out the harmful UV rays and projecting the harmless infrared rays into the room.
In’Flector blinds are so efficient at this filtration tests have shown that a 1.2m x 1.2m blind whilst in direct sunlight can produce an incredible 2096 BTU’s which is the equivalent of a 600watt convection heater.
All without a penny of electricity being used.

Available as Vertical and roller blinds or as fixed screens, In’Flector can be made to suit your style of home. They can be installed in minutes as they standard mechanisms that are found on most blinds of similar design.

During the summer months, In’Flector blinds can be used to stop heat from entering a room. This vastly reduces the need for air conditioning units and unsightly noisy fans.
Ideal for areas that during the summer months become too hot and uncomfortable for example,
Conservatories
Nurseries
Offices
Hospitals
All we need to give you an instant price is your window size and the type of blind you want.
Technical Data
In’Flector has been tested through many universities and laboratories to ensure the data and performance is exactly as promised.
The following performance tests consist of a 250W heat lamp reaching a temperature of 400º, an In’flector panel between two thermometer sensors.

Performance Test
The glass samples were positioned between the source of heat (heat lamp) and the solar meter which measured what percentage of heat moved through the different types of glass.

How much heat passes through different types of glass and how much of a difference would adding In’Flector actually make in homes and offices?
Laboratory tests are great if you understand what they mean, however most of us would
rather see a demonstration and let us make our own decisions. The EDTM glass testing
equipment (EDTM is a National Fenestration Rating Council certified manufacture of glass testing equipment) enables us to demonstrate three (3) important effects: how much heat passes through different types of glass, how much heat passes through In’Flector, and how window efficiency is improved with the In’Flector.
The equipment used for the test: EDTM heat lamp 1-0D784-85-00 and EDTM Solar
Transmission & Btu Power Meter Model # 2065.
THE CALIBRATION: The EDTM solar Transmission & BTU Power Meter Model #2065 was calibrated where the heat measured at the meter was at 100%, each piece of glass was positioned between lamp and the meter and the metered results recorded.
The above metered measurements were recorded showing the amount of heat which passes through each type of glass.
Single Pane Clear: 85% of the heat passes through the glass.
Double Pane Clear: 70% of the heat passes through the glass.
Double Pane Low-E: 61% of the heat passes through the glass.
With the meter calibrated and registering 100 % of heat from the lamp, the In’Flector was placed between the source of the heat (the heat lamp) and the meter in the same placement as the glass samples.
Single Glazed
Double Glazed
Double Low E Glazed
The meter reading with just the In’Flector shows only 20 % of the heat actually reaching the meter. Laboratory tests report the In’Flector material reflects 72% of radiant heat, and 65 % of solar heat.

The photographs above show the reduction in the percent of heat that passes through each type of glass when the In’Flector “is positioned between the testing meter and the different types of glass.
Single pane Clear: shows a reduction from 85% of the heat passing through the glass down to 17%.
Double Pane Clear: shows a reduction from 70% of the heat passing through the glass down to 15%.
Double Pane low-E: shows reduction from 61% of the heat passing through the glass down to 13%.
The above tests indicate that when the In’Flector is added as an interior attachment to windows the heat that passes through the glass will be substantially reduced.
In fact a single glass pane window with the In’Flector is more energy efficient than a double pane low-E window.

Air Leakage/Infiltration Test
Scanada Consultants Limited
Senior Engineer Aril Parekh
Results
In’Flector Radiant Barrier Window Insulators in a controlled test “substantially reduces the air leakage through the windows by 64.8% to 71%. In’Flector panels provide a good air-seal.”
Tested
Windows at the National Defense Medical Center tested before and after In’Flector Window Insulators.
Impact on Consumer
In’Flector Window Insulators address a major concern of good enveloping-infiltration and air leakage
Solar Collection
Yellot
Solar Laboratories
Results
Through in depth laboratory tests of In’Flector Insulators it was established that “A four foot square window (with In’Flector Insulators in the winter configuration) would have a heat gain of 2096 Btu/hr, which is equivalent to a 600 watt electric heater.”
Tested
In’Flector was tested using ASHRAE Standard Number 74-73 at the Yellot Solar Energy
Laboratory.
Impact on Consumer
In’Flector Insulators can be a source of free heat during cold but clear winter days. In this
configuration the In’Flector are also reflecting the heat away from the cold conductive window glass. This can represent much added comfort while reducing heating costs.
Insulation
Texas A&M University
Results
From a 2002 report titled Effects of the In’Flector Solar Screens on the Thermal Properties of Windows, “Specifically, the U value of the glazing improved by an average of 54% for the winter condition and 50% for the summer condition.”
Tested
The Department of Construction Science under the guidance of Keith Sylvester, Ph.D, Associate AIA, Texas A&M University
Impact on Consumer
In’Flector will improve the insulation value of any window. Coupled with the numerous other benefits, In’Flector improves the comfort and energy savings of any home or building.
Solar Gain Reduction
EDTM Glass Testing Equipment
Results
EDTM makes glass testing equipment used by the National Fenestration Rating Council. Using the EDTM Solar Transmission and Btu Power Meter (model #SP2065) and comparing un-insulated and In’Flector Insulated windows, it can be shown that In’Flector Window Insulators are twice as effective as new low e windows for reducing solar gain.
Tested
Single pane, plate, double pane, and low e windows were all tested. In’Flector alone
outperformed all window types for both solar gain reduction and Uv’s rejection. When used in conjunction with single pane glass, In’Flector outperformed any of the above window types.
Impact on Consumer
Solar gain is a major consideration of good enveloping. In’Flector Window Insulators are very effective in reducing solar gain.
Thermal Transmittance Performance
Ortech Laboratories
Results
“Under daytime summer solar gain conditions the In’Flector panel had the effect of reducing the solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) of the window by 49%. Under nighttime winter thermal conditions the In’Flector insulator panels had the effect of reducing the thermal transmittance coefficient of the window by 37%”
Testing
Ortech Laboratories did an extensive test using accepted and proved methodologies. We know of no other window insulator that has been tested more in the laboratory or in real world situations.
Impact on Consumer
Thermal transmittance properties can be improved on any window with the addition of an
In’Flector Window Insulator. This is another element to a more efficient home or office.
There are other benefits provided by In’Flector that have been established such as the radiant heat reduction benefit that are not available with most other window insulators.
